Add Comment ![]() Jane's Addiction Finally some rock has been scheduled for New Year's Eve (its been all Electronic Dance stuff up to this point) and it's a big one for AC. The return of Jane's Addiction has been one of the major buzzes this past summer and fall. They are one of the landmark bands of the late 80s and early 90s that took the indie college music sound and exploded it into the mainstream with their release of "Nothing's Shocking" in 1988. As Tom Morello said when inducting Jane’s into Guitar Center’s Rock Walk of Fame in June 2011: “Nirvana often gets credit for being the first ‘alternative’ band to break through, the band that changed music and led rock out of the hair metal wilderness of the ’80’s. That’s just not true. It was Jane’s Addiction.” Tickets go on sale Friday, presale Thurs.
![]() The Offspring The Offspring is bringing their tour in support of their recently released CD "Days Gone By" to House Of Blues at Showboat July 28. One of the most successful American punk bands of all time with over 36 million cds sold, The Offspring have taken their edgy yet melodic mash up of pop and punk to a more mature (but not toooooo mature) level with their latest effort. Proof that punks don't have to burn out before getting older. The Offspring just took that punk spirit and got better. Tickets available at the HOB at Showboat website. Tasty bites of the new CD below:
![]() Seether at House of Blues at Showboat 9/2 Labor Day Weekend will continue the "something for everyone" entertainment trend in AC with with Seether rolling into town fresh off their opening dates with Nickleback. "Seether is a post-grunge/alternative metal band from Pretoria, South Africa, that was formed in 1999." With a wiki bio intro like that, we've gotta see these guys. ![]() Photos by Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com And its beyond the usual entertaining madness at House of Blues at Showboat... its the recently announced tour "Carnival of Madness" with Evanescence, Chevelle (who just recently tore it up at HOB), Halestorm and New Medicine. The tour pulls into HOB August 3rd. More info about the show can be found here at Loudwire.com. ![]() Meatloaf coming to HOB AC 7/27 The Atlantic City classic rock parade continues with Meatloaf bringing his Hell In A Handbasket tour to the House of Blues at Showboat July 27. From Meat's press release on his website: For the HELL IN A HANDBASKET tour, MEAT LOAF says, “People who come to Meat Loaf shows know what to expect. They know they're going to get full-on energy with the best rock 'n' roll band in the world. That's not an opinion. That's the truth.” Asked specifically what makes for a good show, he says, “Well, a great play can be done with a table, a light, and four chairs. Great shows are about people. You don't want to put up a wall with laser lights, production, and dancers. It's really about going out there and putting on the show of these people's lives without all of the bells and whistles.” Joining MEAT LOAF onstage will be his longtime band THE NEVERLAND EXPRESS: guitarist Paul Crook (who also produced the HELL IN A HANDBASKET album), John Miceli (drums, percussion), Patti Russo (lead and backing vocals), Randy Flowers (guitars, vocals), David Luther (saxophone, vocals) Justin Avery (piano, organ, keyboard, vocals), Danny Miranda (electric and upright bass) and Ginny Luke (violin, vocals). MEAT LOAF recently performed on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” where he sang “The Giving Tree” from HELL IN A HANDBASKET. "It’s is the most personal record I've ever made," said MEAT LOAF. "It's really the first record I've ever put out about how I feel about life and how I feel about what's going on at the moment." The album, produced by Paul Crook, is an expression of life’s metaphors, driven by excellent musicianship, and of course, the passionate vocals of MEAT LOAF. "Making this album was a great experience," said MEAT LOAF, "and I hope my fans enjoy hearing it as much as I did making it." MEAT LOAF--whose 1977 breakout album Bat Out Of Hell defined the arena rock genre and remains as one of the world's five top-selling albums of all-time, with more than 43 million copies sold to date--is excited about HELL IN A HANDBASKET. It’s a thematic record that easily crosses any number of genres, featuring such unlikely contributors as rappers Chuck D and Lil Jon, country star Trace Adkins, and Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath. With all of that said, Bat Out Of Hell will always be one of my favorite go to albums when I need a pick me up. Truly one of the great albums of the 70s. Of all time... When Meat is in full voice, he is a real treat live. Chickenfoot, Sammy Hagar's pet project band of classic rock legends is coming to HOB at Showboat May 18. Chickenfoot is Sammy, bassist & fellow Van Halen castoff Mark Anthony, drummer Kenny Aronoff (it would be easier NOT to list the bands he played with) and rock guitar god Joe Satriani.
